Two high-speed outputs are integrated into the SIMATIC S7-1200 controller, which can be used as a high-speed pulse output or PWM output. When configured as PTOs, they provide a high speed pulse output of 50% duty cycle up to 100kHz for open loop speed control and positioning of a stepper motor or servo drive. Two high-speed counters provide internal feedback to the high-speed pulse output. When configured to a PWM output, a fixed period output with variable duty cycle is generated to control the motor speed, valve position, or duty cycle of the heating element.
